First impressions

First impressions on the new NBA 2K17

It's been a while since the NBA 2K17 was released and I've decided to make a "review" from the point of view of a person that hasn't played on a console for more than 10 years. Things should be interesting so without further ado, here are my thoughts and opinions on the newly released basketball video game.

First off, My Career mode
After anxiously waiting for the updates to download and install, it finally was the time to get things started. I've been playing My Career on PC for a few years now but the last game that I've played of the 2K series was the NBA 2K14 so I didn't know what to expect from this game.
After creating my player, a process that is much more complex and realistic than the one on the previous versions that had a lot of new interesting features(for example your height, weight and wing span affects your attributes), it was game time!
You start your career by choosing a college for which you play a number of games until you get drafted. In those 4 or 5 games you have to play your way up to the college finals and the way you play increases or decreases your draft stock so I suggest you bring your A game. I've managed to get drafted on the 13th pick by the Phoenix Suns with average grade of C+. That happened because I've never played NBA on a controller before so it took some games to get used to it but that's not all of it. It's now much harder to increase your grade, you have to work harder and when it comes to turnovers, fouls or bad shot selections, man, it's simply not fair but I guess it's more realistic this way. Just to give you an example I had a grade of B+ and from 2 turnovers on which the opponents scored I downgraded to C-.
My Career is so much more fun than what I've used to play on the previous versions. You have a daily schedule which features Team Practice, Optional Practice, sponsor events and so much more. By attending team practice and optional practice increases your "Doin' Work Meter" which later on increases your overall. Be careful not to miss team practice because the coach will be mad and he'll limit your minutes( Practice!? We're talkin' about practice!? haha). After some time you'll get in core training and you have to do workouts in the gym, lifting weights and stuff(P.S: if you do vertical jump in the gym you can fill the blue bar within two tries).
Probably one of the coolest things in My Career is your relationship with Justice Young. You do lots of things together on and off the court and you are slowly developing into a dynamic duo.
There are a lot of cool features that got me pumped up and got me to play NBA 2K17 in My Career all night, 8 hour straight. The game is much more than you can expect. This is truly the finest basketball game ever made and I can't wait to discover what other surprises it holds later in the season.

My League

The most important pillars of the 2K franchise are My Career, My League and My GM so the next mode that I've decided to play is My League.I've been a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers since 2007 so it wasn't so hard to pick up the team that I wanted to play with. When you enter My League, the game features three options : Current NBA Teams, League Expansion and Custom League but I've chosen to go with the Current NBA Teams. I will play those other two modes later on but first I have to get My Career out of my system, haha, I have to play it for a week or two just to cool off the hype.
Going back to My League. In this mode I've played 4 games and what I've seen so far there's nothing special. Ok, there's a big difference between my PC and 2K14 and this one on PS4 if we're talking about graphics but other than that, nothing impressive. There is a different interface, a different layout which is new to me and so is the play calling(I think that is similar to 2K16) but I have to dig deeper in this mode to see if there's something else going on. For now, My League is still a fun mode, but nothing really new to it. My GM is a game mode similar to My League but with a cool twist. You get to be the GM at your favorite team and control everything from ticket prices to player trades or team training. At the start of the season you get a list of goals from your team owner, goals like maintaining the fans interest at a minimum of 60% or sell out 14 games.
This is the first time that I've played my GM and it really seems interesting to me. It can help you learn a lot of things regarding money and managing in real life if you look at things in a certain way, haha. Or maybe I'm crazy but oh well, it's a pretty fun mode which I will be playing all year long next to My Player. I would recommend a daily dose of My Career and My GM to keep things interesting.
My thoughts on the new NBA 2k17

This game had a lot of hype before it was released and what I've seen from trailers and images made me buy a freakin' PS4 just for NBA 2K17 and from what I've seen from playing the game for the first 5-6 days, believe me, this game is awesome. I've only played a few game modes and the transition from PC to PS is slow but things are looking pretty good and I would recommend this game to everybody. There are a lot of modes that I haven't tried yet like My Team or USA Basketball but after I'm done playing in My Career I'm sure going to spend some time to get acquainted with all the game modes. I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts and opinions on the new NBA 2K17 and if you have any tips or tricks to help me get better it would really be welcomed. Thank you guys!
